TapToTalk turns an iPhone™, iPad™ or iPod touch® into an augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) device. TapToTalk makes communication fun, like another “game” on this cool device. Just tap a picture and TapToTalk speaks. Each picture can lead to another screen of pictures.
This free TapToTalk™ app comes with a fully functional album that you can use with your child. If you want to create albums that are individualized to meet the specific needs of your child, visit the TapToTalk web site (www.taptotalk.com).
You can add your own pictures, photos and sounds. You can even record your own voice. Albums created in TapToTalk Designer are “synced” over the Internet directly to your iPhone™, iPad™ or iPod touch®.
TapToTalk is a great app for special needs children with autism, down syndrome, cerebral palsy, apraxia and other speech delays.
TapToTalk has great reviews. This app is also free and can be downloaded from iTunes.
My youngest was very slow to communicate and it was frustrating to run through the list of things that he might want with his saying no to everything. We would have to say ‘show me’ and follow him to what he wanted – of course that times when it was something that we were out of it was extremely difficult. He would get so frustrated also that he would end up breaking down and refusing everything. His teachers suggested creating a book of items around the house (with pictures) that he might want and letting him choose from the book. this app can take the place of that book. I wish I had found it when were going through my youngest non-communicative times. This app would have removed som e of that frustration and prevented many meltdowns.
