About
Are you an up-and-coming scientist looking for the new experience of a lifetime? The good news is that there may be your golden opportunity coming up soon. That’s right, Seibertronians, the First Annual Science Fair!
2021
Building on the elementary school science fair, the Jr High/High School is embarking on a science fair. Science fairs offer not only skills in research, problem solving and data collection but also allows students opportunities to compete for scholarships.
Our Vision
We believe that all students, regardless of race, gender, or socioeconomic status, have the talent needed to succeed as STEM leaders and innovators. First, they need the opportunity to discover and develop that talent.
Our Mission
The mission of our science fair is to expose students to a wide range of science projects in order to stimulate an interest in the different fields. We hope students will see what they could create and will experience new things.
History
1942
Science fairs date back to 1942, when William Emerson Ritter and Edward W. Scripps created “The Science Talent Search” for high school students. The first American National Science Fair was won by Alan J. Fletcher when he was 18, winning with a display on the laws of motion.
1950s
In the United States, science fairs became popular in the early 1950s. Interest in the sciences was at a new high after the world witnessed the use of the first two atomic weapons and the dawn of television. As the decade progressed, science stories in the news, such as Jonas Salk‘s vaccine for polio and the launch of Sputnik, brought science fiction to reality and attracted increasing numbers of students to fairs.
