Modeling Dough and Bubble Solution

I’ve made this modeling dough a few times. I received the recipe many years ago…. something like 20 years ago and love it. It’s nice to make things that don’t involve cooking on the stove, but this recipe makes a nice modeling dough anyway.  I usually mix up a big batch of the dough and divide it out into a few different containers, adding different food coloring to each.  The modeling dough and the bubble solution say that they aren’t edible/drinkable, but the dough itself doesn’t have unsafe ingredients. The bubble solution on the other hand includes either dish soap or baby shampoo which isn’t a safe ingredient to drink.

Each of the recipes can be a fun activity to make besides to play with!

Modeling Dough

1 cup Flour
1 cup Water
1 Tbs Oil
1/2 cup salt
1 teaspoon Cream of Tartar
Colors of Food Coloring

Mix ingredients in a pan. Cook over medium heat until mixture pulls away from sides of pan and becomes doughy in consistency. Knead until cool adding colors.   (Keeps 3 months refrigerated and can be used over and over again)

Bubble Solution

1/3 cup Dish soap
1 1/4 Cup Water
2 teaspoon Sugar
1 drop food coloring
Combine ingredients and pour into an unbreakable bottle.   The food coloring is optional! To blow bubbles, experiment with different items!

An example of a fun thing to try with the bubble solution is trying a tennis racket with a shallow container of the solution.  Dip the racket in the solution and wave the racket through the air to see the results!
