The Linton Academy blog has just made available some tools they are using in their homeschool. These are based on Hooked on Phonics. If you are looking for information on learning to read with homeschooling check out their blog. The Linton Academy currently has made available R-Controlled Vowel Printables that they created and are using.
I decided to start with some basic r-controlled vowels, as these come up fairly frequently in his everyday reading. These printables are simply words to color (or trace) with the vowel and the r underlined to help him remember the rule.
They also include on this page a link to some additional sites with materials that can be used for r-controlled activities. With our youngest we aren’t at this stage yet (and our oldest are way past it). – but this is another tool that I am bookmarking for later.
I am a SAHM/WAHM of three boys ranging in age from 16 to 32. We are working on saving enough for college at the same time as dealing with school and our older independent kids. I author a few blogs, including http://teched4kids.com. I have in the past taught computer information technology classes for the local university and taught workshops for kid's in technology education besides being the Kentucky State FIRST LEGO League Championship Coordinator from 2005 to 2008. I now work as a computer consultant, run a handmade home business, and am available for workshops. Life here is always an adventure!
Thank you so much for featuring our blog on your site!!
