I recently received a copy of Algebrator software to review. Algebrator lets students enter their own math problems and then solves them step by step while explaining all the steps. Everything from pre-algebra (simple arithmetics) to College Algebra (including matrices) is covered by the program.
Students enter their own problems and have them solved and explained step by step.
I love software (and books) that make learning math easier. This software is not a game, it’s a tool. If only this tool existed when I was taking Algebra. To complete the problem below, I entered the problem into the screen (on the sheet of paper) and chose Solve All. You can also solve step by step. After seeing the problem solved, I chose a section I would like to know more about and chose Explain from the menus.
What a GREAT tool! I plan to have my middle son and my husband play more with it soon. My husband loves math and all my boys are following in his footsteps. For me this is a great tool since it not only will solve the problem, but you can then see why the program chose the steps it did.
Algebrator is also available on Amazon and has received great reviews. (Out of Stock on Amazon) Reviews Include:
This is a really useful piece of software. Unlike other math programs I have used, you can type in the problem straight from the book – the software gives you all the steps. Unfortunatly it doesn’t do functions and logarithms, but other than that it is perfect for pre college and large part of a college algebra course. Definitely helped me pass my algebra!
Absolutely the best with college Algebra! Helped me to learn what I was never taught in high school. Great tutorials and support from the people at “Algebrator!”
I bought an older version (2.1), but customer support was very helpful and upgraded for free to version 4.0, which has nice graphics and more features including matrix and log functions. You can solve or simplify step-by-step. Check the company website for the latest version.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
